What is a collective energy switch?

A collective energy switch is a group-buying scheme where customers unite through a third party (like a price comparison site) to negotiate lower gas and electricity rates from suppliers.

By grouping together, customers gain greater purchasing power to secure exclusive, often cheaper, tariffs than individual households. It typically involves a 'reverse auction,' where suppliers bid to offer the lowest price.

How it works

  1. Join Quidco and sign up to emails before 23rd Feb 2026 23:59 to be included in the group!

  2. The providers will compete to offer the best in market tariff for us to offer our customers.

  3. On the 24th Feb 2026 the tariff will go live. If you’re mailable we’ll email you the exclusive link to see it. You will only be able to see the tariffs if you’re in the group and have the link!

  4. Check out the tariffs, if they work for you, you can switch! If not, there’s no obligation.

What happens to my existing energy deal?

If you choose a collective switch deal, you’ll be moving away from your current energy tariff. And if you’re on a fixed deal, it’s worth checking the small print, you could face exit fees unless you’re in the last 49 days of your contract.

When will my new energy deal begin?

Most UK energy suppliers are signed up to the Energy Switch Guarantee, which means your switch should be completed within 21 days, with no interruptions to your energy supply.

How can I remove myself from the the Big Energy Switch?

As a Quidco customer, if you're eligible for the Big Energy Switch, you’ll automatically see our collective switch deals, but there’s no obligation to take them. If you’d rather not switch, you don’t need to do anything. Just stick with your current supplier and ignore the collective switch options highlighted in our results table.
